Let’s pee in Dolomites- Sexten
Contents
From the first moment I started noticing toilets on my travels and started thinking about them more (read: they started to annoy me more and more 😣😯😨🙈🙊), I started taking photos of them. I probably took a thousand photos and I had the idea to show them all! 📷📸📷📸
When I started blogging, friends and followers started sending me photos from their travels. I have already published some of them.
But new ones have arrived, waiting to be seen!! And I’ve already collected more new photos from my recent travels.
Honestly, I don’t even know what order I would post them in. Should I post all my old photos first and write a blog about them? 🧐🤔
Or write about places (read: toilets) I’ve recently visited? 🚽🧻🗻🏞️🏝️
When, after which blog should I write about the toilet photos my friends send me?
Is there even a rule about this?
Do I have to follow the rules? Rules or no rules, I’ll do it my way. So, I’ll write depending on my current mood. 😎😀
The beauty of the Dolomites
I was so looking forward to write this blog. The Italian side of the Dolomites is my second favourite place in Italy. My first love is still Tuscany. 🥰
I’m not sure if it was because the nature is so beautiful or because the toilets are neat, clean and available everywhere.
Well, this part of the Dolomites is located near the border with Austria and you can feel the Italian atmosphere, the food is excellent, prosecco and coffee are what they should be and yet everything is on the wire, everything works flawlessly, and there are so many different Rieslings!, my favourite wine! 🥂🍾 😀
The tourists who come here are not just Instagram tourists with cameras (although there are more and more of them. 😕), but people who came to enjoy this nature and greet you when you pass them on the road.
We only discovered the Dolomites this year, the beauty blew us away, and we kept coming back. Marvellous place.
You will find a lot of photos on this blog, but I think it is worth looking to the end.

Sexten
The toilets in this area are really clean and there are no complaints there. But I will write about what bothers me anyway. 😎
Cute!🫠 I love it when they make an effort and make the toilet signs different from the others.

I don’t like it when there are so many stairs to the toilet, and I don’t and never will. 🙄

As I already mentioned, the toilets are clean and tidy, kudos to them.

If you just need the toilet and don’t want to drink or eat anything, it will cost you €1.

Again, it’s 2 in 1. It’s neat, it’s clean, but again, when we’re all waiting in line for 1 toilet, it’s really tiring and it makes me angry.

And then in the National Park next to the Cemetery of soldiers from World War I there is a toilet. A metal container, lined with wood, with running water, toilet paper, a mirror, a hanger, clean, tidy! Anything is possible, if you have the will.

Museum of Dolomites San Candido
This museum is definitely worth a visit. There I learned that the Dolomites were once under the sea, that dinosaurs walked there. Fossils were found.
It was an exciting journey through time, from prehistoric times to the present day.

the highlight of the day

This dinosaur shit was hanging on the wall of the toilet booth. I was so surprised when I saw it that I ended up forgetting to take a picture of the toilet bowl.🤦🏼♀️🫣😅

It took me a while to figure out why the picture in the women’s toilet showed a man on a horse, why not a woman? At first glance it made me angry, honestly.
Then it dawned on me, it was Terence Hill, a famous Italian actor who starred in the Italian television series “Un passo dal cielo”, which was filmed on Lago di Braies, the surrounding area and the city of San Candido.
There he is – famous Terence Hill

A wooden toilet has been built along the path around the lake, in the old-fashioned way. Equipped with all the necessary things, the only thing was there was no running water. But hey, you don’t have to go around looking for some big tree and hide behind it.
I found it funny/interesting to watch middle-aged people open the toilet door and when they smell/stink urine and feces, they frown and turn away in disgust, not doing the call of nature just because it doesn’t smell pleasant to them. What did they expect? They’ve obviously never seen/used a wooden scheck for a toilet.
