Stairs

Access to toilets (read Stairs) – written 11.08.2024./ published in February 2025.

I have a sister who developed bones and joints problem early in her life. From time to time, she could barely walk. She walks very slowly, sometimes with crutches, she has problem climbing the stairs or walking down the stairs for that matter.

Photo: 10 years ago, my sister walking dawn the stairs, one by one, very slowly. That was on a good day. Behind her is my mum.

Every time I came across toilet which is downstairs or upstairs, the very first image in my head is: how she would get to the loo in here?

These stairs were very annoying! I still remember them! The triangle steps were narrow, you could not step properly, and I am wearing shoes size 37. Imagine someone with 42 feet! Obviously 2 persons cannot meet in the middle of the stairs, which was sort of ok, you could wait for a person to come down, that is not a problem. Still annoying! Specially after a few drinks! 😁😜🙃

Here are only 3 steps, not so wide, but for some one is extra 3 steps.

Of so many photos of toilets with stairs, it’s only one special, in a good way, I took it in the museum in Zadar, Croatia. There are stairs leading to the toilet, but they have an elevator for wheelchair! Well done!
